Privacy Policy

Hurry-Up ("we", "us") is a daily football trivia game at hurryupgame.com. This policy explains what we collect when you play, why, and the choices you have. The short version: you don't need an account, a name or an email address to play, we don't run ads, and we never sell your information.
What we collect
- A random player ID. The first time you play, your browser makes up a random code and keeps it in local storage. It isn't linked to your name, email or any account. We use it to count players and see who comes back.
- Game events. That a page was viewed (with the site or link that sent you), that a game started or ended, each answer's result (how rare it was and how many yards it gained, not what you typed), whether you shared your result, which mode you played (the daily game or Under the Lights), and the country your connection comes from. These go to our own server first, which adds the country and removes your IP address before passing them on to PostHog.
- Answers that aren't on the list. When the game says an answer isn't on a prompt's list, we save the text you typed with the prompt and the date, so we can fix missing answers and misspellings. We don't store your IP address or player ID with it, so it isn't linked to you.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site (pages viewed, rough location, device and browser type, and how long visits last). Google Analytics sets cookies on your device for this. Google doesn't store your full IP address in Google Analytics. You can block it with your browser's cookie or tracking settings, or with Google's opt-out add-on, and the game still works.
- Data saved on your device. Your current game, streak and best score, sound settings, and the player ID are kept in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. We don't use advertising cookies.
- If you contact us, we keep your message and email address so we can reply.
How we use it
- To run the game and keep your progress and streak on your device.
- To improve the game: fix answer lists, spot prompts that are too hard, and tune how plays are scored.
- To count players and see how the game is doing (daily players, completed games, how many come back, where new players hear about us).
- To keep the site secure and stop abuse.
Who we share it with
We use a few service providers to run Hurry-Up. They process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare: hosting, security, our database of missed answers, and email.
- PostHog: game event analytics (servers in the United States).
- Google: Google Analytics, and the fonts the site uses (Google Fonts).
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect players and the service. We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Game events and missed answers are kept while the game runs, so we can compare over time. Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Data on your device stays until you clear it.
Your choices and rights
- You can clear your browser's site data at any time. That removes your player ID, progress and Google Analytics cookies from the device, and you'll start fresh.
- You can block cookies and trackers in your browser settings. The game works without them.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, or to object to how we use it. Email us and we'll help. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. Because players are anonymous, we may ask you to send us the player ID from your browser so we can find your data.
Children
Hurry-Up isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
International players
Hurry-Up is run from the United States, and our providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll also say so in the game.
